About
Inspired by ecofeminist literature and her natural ecological surroundings, Rubius Allerton's paintings aim to depict a space that exudes safety, comfort, and solace among different species. She primarily works with acrylic paint but also uses materials such as chalk and pastels to create a visual softness reflecting the gentle, feminine world that exists within her works.
These paintings often portray women alongside various forms of natural beauty, including flora and fauna. Rubius' work can be interpreted in a literal manner, but it also holds deeper symbolic meaning, as seen in the depiction of swans, which suggests a strong sense of divine femininity.
Rubius paints to invoke a sense of awe within her audience, seeking to feel a deeper connection to her natural surroundings and share this feeling of connection and belonging.
